Terms of Sale

Dated 17 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-17

Ochre Editions is a service operated by Valor Security. The registered company is valor registered name, valor registered address. These terms apply when you buy from Ochre Editions, as a guest, with an account, or through an agent you authorise. They add to our Terms of Use. The weekly drop has extra terms in Limited Editions and Certificates, and prints of your own photos in Printing Your Own Photo.

What we sell

Every print is a reproduction of a public-domain work. We never sell original artworks, and nothing we sell is signed.

  • Fine-art print: a giclée reproduction on archival matte paper.
  • Framed print: a fine-art print in the frame finish you choose, with or without a mount.
  • Canvas: a reproduction on stretched canvas.
  • Print-ready digital file: a high-resolution file prepared for printing, priced from $2 to $5.

The product page and your cart name the format, size, paper, frame and mount before you pay.

How prints are made

  • Prints are made to order by our print partner, who prints, frames, packs and ships them. We hold no stock.
  • The work is never cropped. It is printed at its true proportions, centred on the paper with even white margins. The preview shows exactly this.
  • Sizes are limited by the museum's file. We offer a size only when the file holds at least 150 pixels per inch at that size. Sizes from 150 to 199 pixels per inch are labelled "good"; 200 and above, "best".
  • Colours on paper or canvas differ a little from any screen, and old works carry the marks of their age. These are not defects.

Prices, tax and payment

  • Prices are in US dollars and are set by us. The price shown before you pay is the price you are charged for the work.
  • Sales tax is added at checkout, calculated by Stripe Tax from the address you give there.
  • Shipping is added at checkout for the method you choose.
  • You pay through Stripe's secure checkout by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. We never see or store your full card number.
  • If we list a price in clear error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full before it ships.

Your order

  • Your order is confirmed when payment succeeds and we email your order confirmation. Keep the email: it links to your order page.
  • We may decline or cancel an order, with a full refund, if we suspect fraud, if the print partner can't make it, or if a museum withdraws a work's open-access status before it is printed.
  • An agent you have authorised can place orders for you within the limits you set. Those orders are yours. See the Agent & API Terms.

Cancelling an order

You can cancel a physical order until it goes into production. Your order page shows "In production" from that point. Production often starts soon after payment, so the window can be short. To cancel, write to legal email with your order number. A cancelled order is refunded in full.

Once a print is in production it is being made for you, and it can no longer be cancelled. The returns terms below still apply.

Shipping

  • We ship to addresses in the United States only.
  • At checkout you choose Budget, Standard or Express. Each shows its price and a delivery estimate. Estimates include production and transit, and they are estimates, not guarantees.
  • Your order page shows each step as it happens: paid, in production, shipped (with the carrier and a tracking link), delivered. We email you at each one.
  • We ship to the address given at checkout. If a parcel can't be delivered because the address was wrong, sending it again may cost extra.
  • Risk of loss passes to you on delivery. If a parcel is lost or damaged before it reaches you, we reprint it or refund you.

Returns and refunds

You can ask for a return from your order page within 30 days of delivery.

Changed your mind. Send the print back in its original condition. Once it reaches us, we refund the price of the print and the tax on it, less the cost of return shipping. We tell you where and how to send it when we approve the return.

Damaged, defective or wrong item. Tell us within 30 days of delivery and include at least one photo showing the problem. We will reprint the item at no charge or refund you in full. Tell us which you would prefer.

Refunds go back to the payment method you used. Your bank may take a few days to show them.

Digital files

  • A paid digital file is delivered through a download link on your order page. Each link works for 24 hours, and you can get a fresh one from the order page.
  • The work is in the public domain, so you may use the file however you like, including commercially.
  • Once you have downloaded a file, it can't be refunded, unless it is faulty: it won't open, is corrupted, or isn't the work, size or resolution you ordered. Then we replace it or refund you.
  • If you haven't downloaded the file, you can ask for a refund within 30 days of purchase.

Gift orders

  • You can send a print as a gift to another address in the United States, with a gift message of up to 240 characters. Prices are left off the packing slip.
  • You confirm the recipient is happy for you to give us their name and address.
  • Returns and refunds for a gift are handled with the buyer, and refunds go to the buyer's payment method.

Promo codes

  • Each code has its own terms (discount, expiry, any minimum spend), shown where the code is offered.
  • Promo codes have no cash value, can't be exchanged for cash, and can't be sold or transferred.
  • A code expires on the date given with it, and in any case 12 months after it was issued.
  • We may refuse a code that was obtained by guessing, or that is used against its terms.

Store credit

  • Store credit is applied at checkout as a discount.
  • It can't be redeemed for cash, can't be transferred to another account, and expires 12 months after it is issued.

Referral credit

Members can share a referral link.

  • The person you refer gets 10% off their first print.
  • You get $10 of store credit once their first order has been delivered and 30 days have passed. If that order is returned or refunded within those 30 days, no credit is issued.
  • The store credit terms above apply to referral credit.
  • You can't refer yourself or an account you control, and referral links may not be posted with false or misleading claims. We may withhold or remove credit earned against these terms.

Chargebacks

If something is wrong with an order, please come to us first. A reprint or refund is usually faster than a bank dispute. If you open a dispute with your card issuer, we share the order's records with Stripe and the issuer so they can decide it. While a dispute is open we may pause your account's access to drops. If a dispute turns out to be unfounded, we may close the account.

Your rights under law

These terms don't take away rights you have under consumer protection law where you live. Our warranties are the ones stated here; to the extent the law allows, all other warranties are excluded, as set out in our Terms of Use.
