Limited Editions and Certificates
Dated 17 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-17
Ochre Editions is a service operated by Valor Security (valor registered name, valor registered address). These terms cover the weekly drop of numbered prints and the reproduction certificate that comes with each one. They add to our Terms of Use and Terms of Sale.
The weekly drop
- Each week we offer 100 numbered prints of one work, in one fixed format, size, paper and finish, at one price.
- The drop opens on Thursday at 12:00 noon Eastern Time. The next drop, its specification, price and opening time are on the drops page, in our RSS feed and in a calendar file a week ahead.
- The drop page shows the information on the certificate (below) before you join.
How joining works
- First come, first served. When the drop opens, people are admitted in the order our server received their join requests. Nothing about entry, order or allocation involves chance. A drop is not a lottery, raffle or sweepstakes, and there is nothing to enter except an order for a print.
- You need an account with a verified email address. An agent you authorise
may join for you through our
join_droptool, with the purchase scope, and its purchase counts against the spending cap you set. See the Agent & API Terms. - A join sent before the drop opens is refused. Join again once it opens.
- Holds. When you are admitted, one edition is held for you for 10 minutes while you pay. If you don't pay in time, the hold lapses and the next person in the queue is admitted.
- The queue page shows your position and the editions left, and updates by itself.
One per person
- One edition per account, per shipping address and per card, for each drop.
- The address and card limits are checked when payment succeeds. A second edition for the same account, address or card is cancelled and refunded in full, automatically.
- Using several accounts, addresses or cards, or bots, to get more than one edition breaks our Acceptable Use Policy. We may cancel and refund those orders.
Edition numbers
- Numbers are assigned in the order payments succeed, from 1 to 100, with no gaps. You can't choose a number.
- The 100th paid edition completes the drop. The drop page then shows "Edition complete" and keeps the list of numbers, with no buyer details, and the link for checking certificates.
- We may end a drop early if something goes wrong. Editions already paid for stand, and the certificate states the edition size.
What the edition limit covers
The limit of 100 applies to numbered prints of that drop's specification. The same work stays in our catalogue as an open, unnumbered print in other formats and sizes, and as a free download, because it is in the public domain. Museums and others may also reproduce it. We will not issue more numbered prints of a drop beyond its stated edition size.
The reproduction certificate
Every drop print comes with a reproduction certificate. It states:
- the artist, title and date of the original work;
- that the print is a photomechanical reproduction of a public-domain work, made without the artist's involvement, and that it is not signed;
- the printing process and the paper;
- the edition size (100) and this print's edition number;
- the print date;
- the source: "Courtesy of" the museum that holds the original, with the museum's object number;
- a verification code and the address where anyone can check it.
The certificate is a PDF attached to your order email and on your order page. Where our print partner can include inserts, a printed card is also packed with the print. The PDF and the online record are the copies we guarantee.
Checking a certificate. Anyone can enter a verification code at
/certificates/<code> to see the work, the edition number, the print date and
the certificate's status. It shows nothing about the buyer.
What a drop print is not
A drop print is a numbered reproduction. It is not an original artwork, not signed, not authenticated by any museum, and not an investment. We make no promise about its future value. If you resell it, please describe it as what it is.
Disclosure laws
This document and the certificate are written with the intent of meeting state laws on the sale of fine-art multiples, such as California Civil Code §§ 1740–1745 and New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law Article 15. Counsel to confirm that the certificate's contents and the pre-sale disclosure on the drop page meet each law in full.
Returns
The returns terms in the Terms of Sale apply to drop prints.
