Alphonse Legros

The image shows a sketch-like scene viewed from a slightly elevated perspective, depicting a landscape dominated by a line of trees. The horizon is low in the image, just above a rising slope, with tall trees extending towards the sky. The trees and foliage are characterized by brushstrokes and crosshatching technique, conveying texture and shading. The color palette is monochromatic, with dark and light tones for a serene, natural quality. Line and shadow add movement and highlight the beauty of the trees as they recede into the distance, merging with the sky.
The image depicts the upper half of a man's body, seated with his head tilted downwards. He has a pronounced brow and a long beard. His hair is sparse and closely cropped. He is wearing a textured cloak or robe, holding a hat in one hand and resting it on his knee. In the background, there is a large, bare tree trunk with bare branches.
The image portrays a woman in a profile view, with her head turned towards the left. She has medium-length dark hair styled back, wearing a high-collared garment with ruffled edges. She has a sharp nose, defined cheekbones, and a firm chin. The background is a plain, light-colored canvas, and the artist's signature "A. Legros" and the year "1875" are seen in the upper right corner.
The image shows a man in a forest using a long tool. Tall trees flank him on either side. The ground rises to a hill in the background. The artwork is detailed, with intricate lines showing leaves and foliage. The color scheme is monochromatic, dominated by shades of brown and beige, giving a rustic feel. The scene is filled with trees and foliage, with a distant hill visible.
This is a drawing of a person leading a donkey laden with goods. The image depicts a scene with a donkey walking to the left side while being guided by an individual dressed in layered clothing. The donkey is burdened with sacks or baskets that are strapped to its back. The lines and shading are subtle and detailed, capturing the texture of the clothing and fur. The figure and the donkey are positioned on a lightly sketched landscape with a few hints of foliage to the right, suggesting a rural setting. The drawing's simplicity and detail suggest a narrative moment, with a sense of movement and purpose conveyed through the lines.
