A boulder about twice the width of the path is backlit where it sits just left of the lower center of the canvas. The path begins near the bottom right corner of the painting and curves back and to the right. The horse is white, and the rider wears dark brown pants and a hat, and a lighter brown shirt. Trees towering over the rider to either side of the curve nearly reach the top of the composition. The horizon comes less than a third of the way up the painting. Pearly white sky fills in the gap between the trees around the rider, and ivory-colored clouds frame an icy blue sky above. The scene is painted with textured and blended strokes, which gives the painting a soft look even though some of the brushstrokes are visible. A patch of darker green near us and to left of center is dotted with red and yellow to suggest flowers. The men and horses are small in relation to the composition. The people have brown skin and are painted with a few strokes in dark gray and muted green for the man behind the plow to the left and pale yellow and white and a red cap for the person on horseback. A band of houses with tan or light yellow walls and gray or terracotta red roofs line the far side of the field to the left, and an arched bridge crosses what appears to be a shallow, grassy ravine near the center. The horizon comes about a third of the way up this composition and a few smoke-gray clouds line the upper edge of the otherwise milk-white sky. The artist signed the lower left corner, “COROT.”",{"_294":1043,"_296":1044,"_298":1045},"https://img.ochreeditions.com/m/1330.jpg?dl=1","/art/view-near-epernon-nga-1150","/galleries/style/paris-salon-painting/view-near-epernon-nga-1150",{"_290":291,"_292":293},{"_223":1040,"_125":1041,"_284":1042},{"_275":1037,"_277":1038,"_279":1021,"_280":1039},70.3,48.2259033203125,33.2259033203125,{"_286":223,"_123":536,"_154":537,"_140":87},{"_286":125,"_123":287,"_154":288,"_140":289},{"_286":284,"_123":166,"_154":165,"_140":168},"https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1330/480.jpg","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1330/960.jpg","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1330/1920.jpg",{"_313":1059,"_315":1060},{"_313":1057,"_315":1058},{"_313":1055,"_315":1056},{"_313":1053,"_315":1054},{"_313":1051,"_315":1052},"#5a512b",0.0913,"#373627",0.0917,"#7b6a2d",0.1168,"#988333",0.1447,"#dcd6be",0.5555,"the-shepherd-s-song-met-437344","The Shepherd's Song",{"_42":1107,"_220":1108,"_327":1109,"_329":330,"_331":1110,"_333":1111,"_335":1112,"_337":336,"_338":1113,"_140":101},"1891","41 1/8 x 43 1/4 in.
