The pale-skinned women are nude, and their blond hair is tied up and back. One woman sits on a brown boulder to the left of center. One hand covers her groin, and the other hand rests on the satyr’s shoulder. The satyr has deeply tanned skin, short white hair, and a long white beard. A white cloth wraps over one shoulder and across his hips. He holds up an object, perhaps a shell, with one hand. That arm crosses over the woman’s breasts. His other hand is by his lower belly, and he looks at the shell. A bit farther back and to our right, a second nude woman also sits on a boulder. She faces away from us and holds up a long stick with her left arm, which arcs over her body. A clean-shaven, pale-skinned man sits with his back against the boulder. He has long brown hair and looks off to the distance to our right. He wears a carnation-pink robe over a sapphire-blue tunic. His legs splay in front of him, his feet bare, as he holds a bow to a violin-like instrument tucked under his chin. The two pairs sit in a grassy glade occupied also by five pheasant- or peacock-like birds. A thin river running behind the glade is lined with spindly trees that together make an impenetrable bronze-brown and laurel-green canopy. The second woman’s stick points or is directed to a gray, mountain lion-like cat on the far bank. Closer inspection reveals deer and another person, who points, tucked among the trunks. A glimpse of blue sky is visible through a break in the tree trunks.","images",{"_293":294,"_295":296,"_297":298},"download_url","https://img.ochreeditions.com/m/1319.jpg?dl=1","page_url","/art/orpheus-nga-1139","walk_url","/galleries/style/italian-renaissance/orpheus-nga-1139","frame",{"_289":290,"_291":292},{"_224":281,"_125":282,"_283":284},"size",{"_274":275,"_276":277,"_278":242,"_279":280},"w",96,"h",61.531494140625,"image_w","image_h",46.531494140625,{"_285":224,"_123":170,"_154":169,"_140":77},{"_285":125,"_123":286,"_154":287,"_140":288},"era",{"_285":283,"_123":166,"_154":165,"_140":168},"facet","style/painting-16","More paintings of the 16th century",95,"moulding","natural","mount","ivory","480","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1319/480.jpg","960","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1319/960.jpg","1920","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1319/1920.jpg","nga","national-gallery-of-art","National Gallery of Art, Washington","city","Washington, DC",{"_309":319,"_311":320},{"_309":317,"_311":318},{"_309":315,"_311":316},{"_309":313,"_311":314},{"_309":310,"_311":312},"hex","#b17758","weight",0.053,"#ab915a",0.102,"#7d653a",0.1806,"#5e4f33",0.2934,"#433922",0.371,"a-hunting-scene-met-437283","A Hunting Scene",{"_42":380,"_221":381,"_382":383,"_384":385,"_386":387,"_388":389,"_390":391,"_392":391,"_393":-5,"_140":103},"ca. 1494–1500","Paintings","Tempera and oil transferred to Masonite","27 3/4 x 66 3/4 in. The painting is wider at the top and tapers like a pint glass to a narrower base. The young man, David, holds the end of long red slingshot with his right hand. The slingshot is weighted by a rock and swings behind his body. His sleeveless rust-red garment is cinched at his waist over a long white shirt. Both garments skim David’s thighs and his legs and feet are bare. Long, curling brown hair frames the ashen and bloodied upturned face of the head at David’s feet. A palm-sized stone is embedded in that forehead. The landscape background is made up of gray boulders, a meandering river, and low palm-like trees. Frothy white clouds sweep across an azure-blue sky.",{"_293":1114,"_295":1115,"_297":1116},"https://img.ochreeditions.com/m/1325.jpg?dl=1","/art/david-with-the-head-of-goliath-nga-1145","/galleries/style/italian-renaissance/david-with-the-head-of-goliath-nga-1145",{"_289":290,"_291":292},{"_224":1109,"_125":1110,"_283":1111},{"_274":1106,"_276":1107,"_278":1108,"_279":1092},96.6339111328125,130.5,81.6339111328125,{"_285":224,"_123":1112,"_154":1113,"_140":89},{"_285":125,"_123":353,"_154":354,"_140":355},{"_285":283,"_123":350,"_154":351,"_140":352},"artist/contemporaries-of-andrea-del-castagno","Andrea del Castagno's contemporaries","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1325/480.jpg","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1325/960.jpg","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1325/1920.jpg",{"_309":1130,"_311":1131},{"_309":1128,"_311":1129},{"_309":1126,"_311":1127},{"_309":1124,"_311":1125},{"_309":1122,"_311":1123},"#a07d5a",0.1,"#6b4531",0.1323,"#36291e",0.1458,"#3e4f47",0.2122,"#f6f6f4",0.4097,"Andrea del Castagno","andrea-del-castagno","Florentine, before 1419–1457",1419,{"_1137":-5,"_1138":1139,"_1140":1141,"_1142":8,"_1143":1144,"_1145":8},"user","csrf","5ce8eca0c7ee5b803799bc4bdc5f3f86faeab619","cartCount",0,"dropLive","legal",[1146,1147,1148,1149,1150,1151,1152,1153,1154,1155,1156,1157],"uploadsEnabled",{"_221":1180,"_20":1181},{"_221":1178,"_20":1179},{"_221":1176,"_20":1177},{"_221":1174,"_20":1175},{"_221":1172,"_20":1173},{"_221":1170,"_20":1171},{"_221":1168,"_20":1169},{"_221":1166,"_20":1167},{"_221":1164,"_20":1165},{"_221":1162,"_20":1163},{"_221":1160,"_20":1161},{"_221":1158,"_20":1159},"credits","Open-Access Credits","accessibility","Accessibility Statement","vulnerability-disclosure","Vulnerability Disclosure Policy","own-photo","Printing Your Own Photo","copyright","Copyright and DMCA Policy","agents","Agent & API Terms","acceptable-use","Acceptable Use Policy","cookies","Cookie Policy","privacy","Privacy Policy","limited-editions","Limited Editions and Certificates","sale","Terms of Sale","terms","Terms of Use"]
