The scene is framed by a silhouette of low boulders along the lower right corner, and a towering cream-white rock rising two-thirds of the way up the composition to our left. Scrubby, celery-green vegetation grows on the rocky outcropping. Near the center, close to the towering white rocks, three people sit, reaching for something near one end of a boat while a fourth person braces against the rock, presumably to push the boat out to the sea. Closer to us, three people on the shore work with a net. Two stand with the net hooked over their shoulders, and a third person crouches in the water with head down. The people all wear simple shirts and pants in shades of tan, mustard yellow, burnt orange, and pale blue. All but two wear hats. The sea meets the shore with frothy white foam and cresting, low waves. The sea beyond fades from pale sage green to arctic blue along the horizon, which comes about a third of the way up the composition. Two sail boats tilt against the wind in the distance. Pale, smoky lavender-purple clouds drift across the ice-blue sky.",{"_297":1119,"_299":1120,"_301":1121},"https://img.ochreeditions.com/m/1552.jpg?dl=1","/art/seashore-with-fishermen-nga-52265","/galleries/style/georgian-britain/seashore-with-fishermen-nga-52265",{"_293":441,"_295":442},{"_227":1114,"_125":1115,"_288":1116},{"_279":1111,"_281":1112,"_283":1095,"_285":1113},142.6,116.65009765625,101.65009765625,{"_290":227,"_123":1117,"_154":1118,"_140":97},{"_290":125,"_123":826,"_154":827,"_140":828},{"_290":288,"_123":167,"_154":166,"_140":169},"artist/thomas-gainsborough","More by Thomas Gainsborough","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1552/480.jpg","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1552/960.jpg","https://img.ochreeditions.com/a/1552/1920.jpg",{"_313":1135,"_315":1136},{"_313":1133,"_315":1134},{"_313":1131,"_315":1132},{"_313":1129,"_315":1130},{"_313":1127,"_315":1128},"#b1a488",0.0916,"#675840",0.1412,"#92918c",0.208,"#312319",0.2166,"#b7bfbc",0.3426,"Thomas Gainsborough","thomas-gainsborough","English, 1727–1788",1727,1788,"Sudbury","Gainsborough trained in London with the French engraver Hubert Gravelot, then built his career as a portraitist first in Suffolk and later in fashionable Bath before moving to London in 1774.",{"_1145":-5,"_1146":1147,"_1148":1149,"_1150":8,"_1151":1152,"_1153":8},"user","csrf","9b35dee7ae5a246d2344558301c3b500bfa3b5d5","cartCount",0,"dropLive","legal",[1154,1155,1156,1157,1158,1159,1160,1161,1162,1163,1164,1165],"uploadsEnabled",{"_224":1188,"_20":1189},{"_224":1186,"_20":1187},{"_224":1184,"_20":1185},{"_224":1182,"_20":1183},{"_224":1180,"_20":1181},{"_224":1178,"_20":1179},{"_224":1176,"_20":1177},{"_224":1174,"_20":1175},{"_224":1172,"_20":1173},{"_224":1170,"_20":1171},{"_224":1168,"_20":1169},{"_224":1166,"_20":1167},"credits","Open-Access Credits","accessibility","Accessibility Statement","vulnerability-disclosure","Vulnerability Disclosure Policy","own-photo","Printing Your Own Photo","copyright","Copyright and DMCA Policy","agents","Agent & API Terms","acceptable-use","Acceptable Use Policy","cookies","Cookie Policy","privacy","Privacy Policy","limited-editions","Limited Editions and Certificates","sale","Terms of Sale","terms","Terms of Use"]
