# A Wooded Landscape, in Meindert Hobbema

Meindert Hobbema painted this in 1663, aged 25. It is now at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

Our note:

> A rutted road curves past a grove of tall trees, whose broad canopies throw deep shade over a stream, while small figures stroll, talk and fish across a sunlit landscape of fields and hedgerows.
