# Corte del Paradiso, in James McNeill Whistler

James McNeill Whistler painted this in 1880, aged 46. It is now at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Our note:

> A narrow Venetian courtyard, the Corte del Paradiso, is evoked with a few lines of black chalk and touches of coloured pastel on brown paper, the bare sheet standing for walls and shadow.
