# The Marquesa de Pontejos, in Francisco Goya

Francisco Goya painted this in about 1786, aged 40. It is now at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

Our note:

> The Marquesa de Pontejos stands in a parklike landscape in a silvery-grey gown puffed and festooned with pink roses and ribbons, a straw hat tilted on her powdered hair, a carnation in one hand and a closed fan in the other. A pug in a pink collar with bells stands at her feet.
