Henry Augustus Loop's contemporaries

John Quincy Adams Ward, by Henry Augustus Loop, 1863
STUDY OF LANDSCAPE, DELAWARE RIVER
STUDY OF SEASCAPE. PORCUPINE ISLANDS, BAR HARBOR, ME
Landscape—Scene from "Thanatopsis", by Asher Brown Durand, 1850
This painting features a landscape with a calm body of water dominating the lower portion. The view is slightly elevated, overlooking the water that reflects the surrounding greenery and sky. Two white swans glide on the river, which is surrounded by green trees and shrubs. In the distance, a large tan castle with multiple towers and crenellations stands above the trees. In front of the castle, on the right side of the painting, a smaller structure with white walls and red roofs sits, surrounded by greenery. One or two people appear to sit out in front of it, and on the right sheep lay in the soft green grass. The color palette includes deep greens, soft browns, and varying shades of blue.
Heart of the Andes, by Frederic Edwin Church, 1859

  2. The image shows a woman standing upright with a small red book in her right hand. She has a fair complexion, neutral expression, slightly arched eyebrows, and small, rounded lips. Her dark brown hair is styled in an updo with a black accessory. She wears a high-necked dark dress with puffed sleeves and a white collar. The background is plain blue. The woman is not wearing any visible jewelry, and the setting is minimalistic with only the book present.
