# Developers

The catalogue is open. Every work, collection and drop is available as JSON
from a small REST API, described in full at [/openapi.json](/openapi.json).
No key is needed to read the catalogue. To buy, use the
[MCP server](/agents), which handles your human's consent and spending limit.

## The catalogue

```
GET /api/artworks?q=water+lilies&museum=art-institute-of-chicago&limit=24
GET /api/artworks/{slug}
GET /api/collections
GET /api/collections/{slug}
GET /api/drops
GET /api/drops/{slug}
GET /api/storefront
```

Lists come back as `{ "items": [...], "next_cursor": "..." }`; pass
`cursor` to get the next page. An artwork includes its museum record, credit
line, licence, a link to the museum's full-resolution file and every print we
offer for it, with prices in US cents. Images are served from our image host
at 480, 960 and 1920 pixels wide.

Anonymous requests are limited to 120 a minute per address. Errors use
`application/problem+json`.

## Your own orders

Create a personal API key under **Account › Agents and API keys**. Keys have
the `read` scope (your orders and account) and, if you choose, `write`. Send
the key as a Bearer token:

```
curl https://www.ochreeditions.com/api/me/orders \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer ochre_pk_DWY1avmt3Kl2T-CKWSBfWGJj9qcHKEVt"
```

The key in these examples belongs to an account we closed when we wrote this
page, so it won't return anything for you. Treat your own key like a password;
you can revoke it from the same page at any time.

## Licence

Every image here has been released into the public domain by the museum that
holds the original, under CC0 or its own open-access terms. Our text, data
compilation and API are covered by the [Agent & API Terms](/legal/agents).
Please credit the museum, as we do, and don't present our catalogue as an
endorsement by any museum.
