## About this work

Jean Morin made this. It is now at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

### What you’re looking at

The image depicts a landscape viewed from a slightly elevated angle. On the left side, there is a large tree with a twisted trunk and dense foliage. A winding path can be seen with a figure walking with a dog. In the distance, a river winds through the land, and there are rolling hills and trees in the background. The color scheme is sepia-toned.

_Description from the National Gallery of Art._

### How it was made

- **Etching.** The artist draws with a needle through a waxy coating on a copper plate, and acid bites the exposed lines. The plate is then inked, wiped and printed under pressure, so the line keeps the freedom of drawing.
